Why we choose natural fur

In recent years, many brands have started using synthetic fur as an alternative to natural materials. While it is often presented as a more ethical option, synthetic fur also has serious environmental drawbacks. For our products, we choose natural fur because it is a durable, natural and more environmentally responsible material.

Synthetic fur is made from plastic

Most synthetic fur is produced from petroleum-based materials such as acrylic, polyester or modacrylic. These are essentially forms of plastic. The production of these materials requires large amounts of energy and chemical processing, which contributes to pollution and increases the carbon footprint of the final product.

Because synthetic fur is plastic-based, it also releases microplastics over time. During use and cleaning, tiny plastic fibers can enter the environment and eventually end up in water systems and soil.

Synthetic materials do not biodegrade

Another important issue is decomposition. Synthetic fur does not break down naturally. Like other plastic materials, it can remain in landfills for many decades or even hundreds of years.

Natural fur, on the other hand, is a biodegradable material. Over time it can naturally decompose, which makes it less harmful to the environment compared to plastic-based alternatives.

Durability reduces waste

Products made from natural materials are usually more durable. Natural fur and leather can last for many years when properly cared for. This means fewer items need to be replaced, which ultimately reduces waste and the overall environmental impact.

Synthetic materials often wear out faster and lose their appearance more quickly, leading to more frequent replacement and additional waste.

Natural materials provide better performance

Besides environmental considerations, natural fur also offers better practical qualities. It is warm, breathable, and comfortable in cold weather. These natural properties make it especially suitable for winter footwear and accessories.

Our approach

For our products, we use natural fur because it combines durability, comfort and responsible use of natural materials. We believe in creating products that last for years rather than following short-term trends that lead to more waste.

Choosing natural materials allows us to produce footwear and accessories that are warm, long-lasting, and more respectful of the environment.
